Iowa school board elections are Tuesday

Three candidates are running for two vacancies on the Keokuk school board.
Incumbents Brent Gatton and Jim Vandenberg are seeking re-election.
Dr. Wilson "Bill" Davis, who served nine years on the school board, six as board president, is also running.
School board members receive no pay for serving on the board.
All seats on Keokuk's school board are elected at-large and serve three years.
The five other members serving on the seven-seat school board (and the year their terms expire) are: Julia Logan, board president, 2006; Sandy Stark, vice president, 2005; David Barrett, 2005; Tyler McGhghy, 2006; and Brian Richardson, 2006.
Janet Fife-LaFrenz is on Tuesday's ballot unopposed as a candidate for director from District 5 on the board of trustees for Southeastern Community College. She has served 13 years on SCC's board of trustees.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Polling places are:
n Precinct 1, Keokuk Wards 1 and 3 vote at George Washington Elementary School, 116 N. 8th St.
n Precinct 2, Keokuk Wards 2 and 4 vote at the Heritage Center, 508 Main St.
n Precinct 3, Keokuk Wards 6 and 7, Des Moines Township, Jackson Township and Montrose Township, vote at Hawthorne Elementary School, 2930 Decatur St.
n Precinct 4, Keokuk Ward 5, vote at Keokuk High School, 727 Washington St.
