Fourth annual event to feature fashion show, 26 vendors at River City Mall

By Steve Dunn/Gate City Managing Editor

Everything a bride needs for her wedding will be on display at the fourth annual Bridal Fair at the River City Mall in Keokuk Sunday.

Sponsored by the Daily Gate City and Big River Rental, the event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. and include a fashion show from 2 to 3 p.m.

Wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses and tuxedos from the Colony Shop & Bridal Loft of Fort Madison, Bonnie's Bridal of Macomb, Ill., Johnson Schmidt Menswear of Keokuk and Royalty's of Carthage, Ill. will be modeled during the fashion show, according to Bridal Fair coordinator Carla Rhodes.

Twenty-six vendors have signed up to participate at the Bridal Fair. In addition to dresses and tuxedos, the services include fine china, photography, cakes, travel, disc jockey services, limousine and catering. Food and cake samples will be available, and photographers will display their work, Rhodes said.

A drawing also will be held for a three-night cruise. A person must register at the Bridal Show to be eligible to win the cruise.

A special Bridal Planning Guide is included in the Daily Gate City and Hancock County Journal-Pilot in Carthage, Ill., today. The guide features articles on planning the perfect wedding.

Last year, several hundred people attended the third annual Bridal Fair at the mall. The show attracted brides from as far away as Virginia, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Cities in Iowa, Illinois and Missouri also were represented.

In addition to the Tri-State Area, registering brides came from Jacksonville, Plainville, Springfield, Mount Sterling, Mendon, Pittsfield, Quincy and Griggsville, all in Illinois; Memphis, Canton, Luray, Kahoka and St. Louis in Missouri; and Fairfield, Coralville and Sioux City.

A stretch Humvee provided by Fantasy Limousine Service, Inc. of West Quincy, Ill., will appear again this year.
