Gordon Wathen enjoys tennis, racquetball

Gordon Wathen is employed as computer technician for the Keokuk Community School District.

What kind of music do you enjoy? Jazz, easy listening and gospel.

What are your hobbies? Playing the piano, tennis and racquetball.

Do you have a favorite pet (present or past)? An akita named Megan.

Where would you go if you won a trip anywhere in the world and why? Hawaii. Because I like the sun and scuba diving.

What has been life's most rewarding experience for you? Working with my dad on a family farming operation.


How many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren do you have? None, but I have 12 nieces and nephews.

What book are you currently reading? “Confessions of a Happy Christian” by Zig Ziglar and “Battle Field of The Mind” by Joyce Meyer.

What is your least favorite food? Lima beans.

What is your favorite food? Generals Chicken (Chinese).

What makes a perfect summer day and how would you spend it if you could, anyway you wanted? Soaking up some sun on the beach of a remote island like the Bahamas.

Have a favorite sport to do or watch? Tennis.

Favorite childhood, teen and adult book? Childhood: All of the Hardy Boys books; teen: Desmond Bagley - suspense; adult: “Battle Field of The Mind.”

Most memorable moment? When I proposed to my wife, Amy.

Most famous person(s) you've met? A man that used to be on “Good Morning America.” I don't recall his name.

What do you do for fun? Watch movies.

What do you like most about yourself? That I'm able to understand how things work.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A systems analyst.

Where would you live if you had a choice? Southern Maine.

What is your favorite TV show and actor/actress? “Lassie” and Sean Connery

If you could have dinner with any three people (living or dead) who would they be? Jesus, President Bush and Mother Theresa.

What was your favorite subject in school? Math.

What was your first job? Picking potatoes.

What was/is your favorite style/piece of clothing? Casual.

Best word(s) of advice you've received? From Proverbs: “Whatsoever a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”

Favorite movie of all time? “The Incredibles.”

What is your favorite ethnic food? Thai food.

How did you meet your spouse (if married)? We met in college at Oral Roberts University, and did some project together. We started dating at our 10-year anniversary from college and were married in four months.

Person you admire most and why? Jesus; He lived a sinless life.

If you had a motto, what would it be? Seize the day.

What is your most memorable and/or embarrassing food experience? Squeezing the bottle of hot sauce at Diamond Dave's and the top exploded all over me and the table.

What is your favorite recipe (list directions and ingredients)? Scrambled eggs.

Add 3 eggs; approximately 1/2 cup of milk; tablespoon of butter; dash of salt and pepper; chopped up bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, cauliflower, broccoli, sprinkle cheese.
