Tri-State Area residents tired of snow, ice and sub-freezing temperatures will get a taste of spring at the third annual Home and Leisure Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the River City Mall in Keokuk.

“It's the place to come if you're thinking of doing home repairs and remodeling because it will all be there,” said Carla Rhodes, who is coordinating the event for the Daily Gate City. Big River Rental also is a co-sponsor.

About 20 exhibitors will be hand representing rental equipment, banking, paint, air purifiers, home construction, lawn and landscaping, oak furniture, tree removal, heating and air conditioning, kitchen ware, windows, pools, siding, spas and water distribution.

At this point, the exhibitors include Big River Rental of Keokuk, First Community Bank of Keokuk, Sherwin Williams of Keokuk, Quality Aire of Hamilton, Ill., Abney Home Improvement of Hannibal, Mo., Abingdon Home Solutions of Abingdon, Ill., GT Lawn Care of Carthage, Ill., Henry Service Center of Bowen, Ill., Oakwood Industries of Memphis, Mo., and Precision Tree Choppers of Keokuk.

Others include Weirather Enterprises of Keokuk, Midwest Lawn Borders of Nauvoo, Ill., W.J. Kraus and Sons of Keokuk, Pampered Chef of Carthage, Ill., Tri-State Heating and Electric of Keokuk, Tri-State Windows and Pool of Keokuk, Hinckley Spring Water of Hamilton, Ill., and Keokuk Catholic Schools.

Booth space still is available, according to Rhodes.

A drawing will be held and copies of the Daily Gate City's Home and Leisure Guide will be distributed. The guide will be published along with the Daily Gate City on Thursday, Feb. 15.

More than 300 people registered at last year's show in the mall.

Last year, Tom Mecklenburg of Sutter, Ill., expressed a common sentiment.

“We wanted to get out of the house,” he said. “I'm thinking of doing some remodeling.”
