Hamilton School District welcomes seven new teachers

Hamilton School District welcomes seven new teachers this fall. As noted by principal Ron Gilbert, also new to the district this fall, the teachers are new to the district, but all are experienced teachers.
At Hamilton Elementary School Jenny White is the fourth to sixth grade Title I teacher, and Brooke Bender teaches second grade.
White lives in rural Carthage, Ill. She is a graduate of Carthage High School and received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Western Illinois University, Macomb. She has a reading specialist master's degree from WIU.
White taught three years at Farmington High School and most recently 10 years at Southeastern Junior High.
Bender lives in Hamilton. She attended Keokuk High School, received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Culver-Stockton College, Canton, Mo., and has a master's in reading from WIU.
She taught 11 years at Quincy, Ill., in Title I, Reading Recovery and kindergarten.
At Hamilton High School, Jessie Kohlmorgan of Warsaw, Ill., teaches special education. She graduated from Hamilton High School and has a degree in special education from WIU. She has taught at Dallas City and Liberty for two and a half years.
Hannah Whitaker of Burnside, Ill., is the new special education resource person. A graduate of Nauvoo-Colusa High School, she has a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois in ag communications and education and a master's from WIU in special education.
She taught ag three years at Carthage and special education five years at Nauvoo-Colusa.
Deb Moffitt of Nauvoo, Ill., is teaching biology, anatomy and physiology. She attended high school in Chicago, and earned her bachelor's degree in biology from WIU. She has nearly completed a master's degree. Moffitt also teaches classes at Southeastern Community College. She has taught at Nauvoo-Colusa High School for 24 years.
Mike Uppinghouse of Quincy is the new math teacher. He attended Payson-Seymour High School and earned a bachelors degree in math from Illinois College. He has a masters degree from WIU in education.
He has 35 years of teaching experience which includes 19 years at Quincy Junior High School and nine years at Quincy High School, as well as Payson, Bettendorf, West Pike, Quincy Notre Dame and Canton, Mo.
Don Capaldo of Keokuk teaches physical education and is the head Titan football coach. He graduated from Albia Community High School in Iowa and has his bachelors degree from Simpson College in Indianola.
He has taught for 31 years including K-12 physical education and middle school social studies at Villisca, Ruthren, Mount Pleasant and Keokuk.
He was dean of students and athletic director at Albia High School for three and a half years, and coached football and boys track at all sites except Albia.
