NAUVOO, Ill. - A Halloween parade is at 5 p.m. Saturday in Nauvoo, Ill. Line up begins at 4:45 p.m. (registration is free) at Nauvoo Grade School with the route down Mulholland Street to Nauvoo City Park. Entertainment by Nauvoo-Colusa Marching Band, Nauvoo Mission Brass Band and the Pumpkin Carolers will be on the stage next to the Allyn House throughout the evening. “The Haunted Mansion” movie will be shown at Kraus Theatre at 6 p.m. Friday and “Monsters, Inc.” at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Fortune Teller will be in the Pastimes building from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and more Halloween games will be at Grandpa John's Cafe. Halloween pictures are available for $1 at the cafe. A best jack-o-lantern auction is from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the corner of Page Street. Persons must be present to win and the pumpkin must be picked-up at 8:45 p.m. Organizers will select 24 of the best carved pumpkins to auctioned. A haunted house will be in the Knights of Columbus building on Friday and Saturday, and Tuesday, Oct. 30, starting at 6:30 p.m. each day. Admission is $3. Trunk or Treat will be next to the Old Old Path Bookstore and Zion's Mercantile. There will be free popcorn, balloons and treats. Foods will include Dragon Eye Winerittas, Monster Munch and Witch's Cauldron soups, sponsored by Baxter's Vineyards; Dirt & Worms frozen custard at Annie's Frozen Custard Shop; Monster sandwiches and Mummy dogs, sponsored by Nauvoo's bed & breakfasts; and Spooky Trail Dirt Fudge sponsored by the Fudge Factory. A pumpkin bake sale will be held at the Allyn House. Nauvoo Historical Society will sponsor a pie sale. The library is having a bake sale. A fund-raiser for Sts. Peter and Paul School includes hot dogs and brats. A spooktacular dinner is planned at the Nauvoo Family Inn & Suites Summer Kitchen Restaurant with all the wait staff in costume.
