Family Read Night is sponsored by Jesse White, Secretary of State and State Librarian and is celebrated annually in Illinois on the third Thursday in November.

It is a statewide event where families are encouraged to spend quality time reading together.

This year's theme is “Celebrate Good Times: Read Together!”

Carl Sandburg College Family Literacy is co-sponsoring three events in area locations.

The first event will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Carl Sandburg College - The Branch Campus in Carthage.

The Carthage Public librarian will read stories. There also will be crafts, and a chance for every family to make a holiday wreath. Every child who attends will receive an age appropriate book.

Warsaw Public Library's Family Read Night is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15. Every family will have the chance to make a craft, play games, read together and listen to stories.

Nauvoo Public Library's Family Read Night is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15. Guest reader will be local artist, Jim Topic.

Families will have the chance to read at the library or check out books to read at home. A craft, snack and door prizes will be offered at all Family Read Nights.

For more information please contact your local library or call CSC at 217- 357-3129, extension 7245.
