Around the Tri-State Area this weekend

Today

n The 14th annual Carthage Christmas Openhouse will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. in Carthage, Ill.

Activities include carriage rides, carolers, cookie walk, holiday performers, previews of “A Christmas Wish” and “Home for the Holidays,” costumed holiday characters, Santa, kids' scavenger hunt and Christmas Cash drawing.

Also, shepherd's bake sale, kettle corn, bell ringing for the Salvation Army, “Big Boys Toys” and in-store specials.

Saturday and Sunday

n The Van Buren County villages of Keosauqua, Cantril, Bentonsport, Birmingham, Stockport, Farmington, Bonaparte and Milton will hold their annual Christmas in the Villages this weekend.


n “Sing a Song of Christmas” will be presented at 2 p.m. Saturday and 5 and 7 p.m. Sunday at the St. Barnabas Chapel in Montrose.

Sunday

n A fund-raiser for Iowa's only Marine reserve unit will be held at noon Sunday at Arrowhead Bowl in Keokuk.

All proceeds will benefit Company E, Second Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment.

The unit includes Lance Cpl. Jeremy Hamelton and Colby Barker.
