Newton earns honorable mention honors in MCC
MOUNT PLEASANT - Brooke Newton, a graduate of Nauvoo-Colusa High School, completed her senior season as a member of the Iowa Wesleyan women's basketball team.
Newton started 26 of the 29 games she played. She averaged 7.4 points and led the team with 6.9 rebounds in 24.8 minutes of playing time per game. She shot a team-high 55 percent from the field and 67.6 percent from the foul line.
Newton was an honorable mention selection in the Midwest Classic Conference this season. She was fifth in the conference in rebounds and would have led the conference in field goal percentage, but finished four made field goals shy of the minimum makes required to qualify among the conference leaders.
Iowa Wesleyan finished the season 20-9 overall and 12-4 in the conference.
