WAYLAND, Mo. - Weather permitting, MoDOT and its contractor will resume work next week to expand U.S. Highway 61 to four lanes at the interchange of Hwy. 61 and U.S. Highway 27 near Running Fox School south of Wayland, Mo.

Since crews will be working in these areas, access to the ramps will be closed to all traffic and the ramps will remain closed until the project is completed.

“Now that work is starting up again, the area will become an active work zone and cars will not be allowed to travel on the ramps,” said district construction and materials engineer Macy Rodenbaugh. “This is for our workers' safety as well as the traveling public.”

Various types of traffic control will be in place to detour traffic to the new interchange at Wayland, about three miles north of the closure.

School buses and local residents may choose to use the county road system to access the area near Running Fox School.

The entire four lane, including the interchange, will open in June.

Call MoDOT's Customer Service Center toll free at 1-888 ASK MODOT (275-6636) during normal business hours or visit the project web site at www.modot.org/northeast for more information.
