Alanson Wesley ‘Bud' Carr

COLUMBUS, Ill. - Alanson Wesley “Bud” Carr, 99, of Columbus, Ill., formerly of Hamilton, Ill., died at 2:22 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, in Timberpoint Healthcare Center, Camp Point, Ill.
He was born on Dec. 16, 1908, in rural Bernie, Mo., the son Albert and Lillie Mariett Barnes Carr.
He and Edna Maxine Beyer Jones were married on Nov. 10, 1929, in Bernie. She preceded him in death on July 2, 1998.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He and Edna had attended the First Baptist Church of Hamilton. In 1973, he retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad. Following his retirement, he worked several summers at Argyle Lake State Park in Colchester, Ill. He and Edna spent many winters in McAllen, Texas, with their camping friends, making frequent trips to Mexico.
He enjoyed mushroom hunting, frying fish and fishing, especially with his grandchildren.
Survivors include: his daughter: Patricia Cochran and her husband, Gary, of Columbus; two sisters, Larenell Burke and her husband, Kenneth, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Hazel Gatlin of Neelyville, Mo.; four grandchildren, James A. Carr and his wife, Debbie, of Glendale, Ariz., Scott Cochran and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Hamilton, Terry Cochran and his wife, Sandy, of Springfield, Ill.; and Angel Viar of Baylis, Ill.; 12 great-grandchildren, Mikeala, Kendall, Corey (and Liz), Candice, Cody, Anna, Gabi, Tabetha (and Mark), Shayela, Cyle, Dylan and Robbie; two great-great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Hayley; two brothers-in-law, Morey Jones of Memphis, Mo., and Walter Jones of Hamilton; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Taylor of Hamilton, Maxine Carr of Brosely, Mo., and Rose Carr of Peoria, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James O. Carr; three brothers, John Carr, Fred Carr and Edward Carr; four sisters, Winnie Jones, Goldie Grieve, Jewel Stinson and Louise Sale; two grandsons, Christopher and Jon Carr; and a daughter-in-law, Paula Carr.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lamporte - St.Clair Funeral Home of Hamilton, with Pastor B. Gene Baker officiating.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
Visitation is between 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Timberpoint Healthcare Center, First Baptist Church of Hamilton or the Quincy Kennel Club Rescue Fund.
