Chiefs eighth at Fairfield Invitational
FAIRFIELD - The Keokuk boys golf team finished eighth at the Fairfield Invitational Saturday at the Fairfield Golf and Country Club.
Fairfield won the event with a 306. Washington was second with a 307, and Mount Pleasant took third with a 346. Keokuk finished with a 366.
Zach Benedict led the Chiefs with an 86. Ben Muckler had a 91. Bill Steil added a 92. Derek Nash shot a 97. Brian Clark carded a 99, and Brett Abston finished with a 104.
Fairfield's Kyle McMahan earned medalist honors with a 73. Washington's Brandon Gaal was second with a 74, and Washington's Joe Harris finished third with a 75.
Keokuk competes in the Lee County Tournament at 12:30 p.m. today at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Park, Fort Madison.
