Amy Varner enjoys time with family
Amy Varner is the office manager for the Keokuk Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Keokuk, Inc. and Keokuk Area Convention and Tourism Bureau.
“I am originally from Columbia, Mo., but moved to Hannibal, Mo., to attend Hannibal-LaGrange College,” she said. “My children are all a real joy and my husband and I feel truly blessed.”
Varner said she and her husband just finished classes to become licensed foster parents for teenagers.
“There are a lot of kids who age out of the system at 18 with no one to love, no one to love them, and no one to turn to in their time of need,” she said. “We believe we can help and are looking forward to this new journey in life.”
What food are you most famous for? Crock pot beef stew.
What kind of music do you enjoy? 80s.
What are your hobbies? Crossword puzzles, writing poetry and crocheting.
Do you have a favorite pet (present or past)? Angel (Yorkie).
Where would you go if you won a trip anywhere in the world and why? Tampa, Fla., to go to Disneyland, Epcot Center and other attractions.
What has been life's most rewarding experience for you? Being a mom.
How many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren do you have? Four children. Brady is 13, Lizzie is 3, and twins Malena and Marisal turned 1 last Saturday.
What book are you currently reading? Kids books to my children.
What is your least favorite food? Sweet potatoes.
What is your favorite food? Mom's pepper steak.
What makes a perfect summer day and how would you spend it if you could, anyway you wanted? Sunny, 75 degrees, having a picnic with my family (even in my backyard).
Have a favorite sport to do or watch? Watch Chiefs football and playing co-ed softball with my husband.
Favorite childhood, teen and adult book? Women's Study Bible.
Most memorable moment? Giving birth to my children.
Most famous person(s) you've met? Sam Walton.

What do you collect? Cups and saucers that my grandmother started collecting. I have her collection.

Person you admire most and why? My mother because after being divorced she managed to raise me with good morals and high standards.

Ingredients:
1 lg. pkg. of chopped
broccoli
1 lg. jar of Cheez-Whiz
2 cans of cream of chicken
mushroom soup
Instant rice, estimate amount
Directions:
Par boil broccoli, mix together all ingredients in large oven-safe bowl and cook for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
