Lexington Square planning several activities to mark week

Lexington Square of Keokuk is observing National Nursing Home Week this week with the theme “Love Is Ageless.”
The schedule of activities is:
Today - Mayor David Gudgel proclaims National Nursing Home Week at 10 a.m. followed by an ice cream social for residents, family and friends at 5 p.m. Tom Roush will play the banjo.
Tuesday - Fishing Day with fishing at the Hawthorne Elementary School pond. Children can visit staff wearing fishing attire. David Denning's hand-carved fish will be displayed.
Wednesday - Hat Day and staff and residents are encouraged to wear hats. The public is invited to attend a presentation on hats and more by JoAnne Ragen at 2 p.m.
Thursday - Bridal shower and reception with a display of formal wear, especially women's gowns from the 1880s to the present.
Friday - Hawthorne kids with fourth graders, clown and carnival at 5 p.m., and food, games for family and friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Saturday - Bingo at 2 p.m. and karaoke with Brenda Trammel at 3 p.m.
On Sunday, the public was invited to attend a Mother's Day tea at 2 p.m. Kathy Gabel also showed quilts dating back to the 1860s.
