Clark County places in top four in two events at state

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Clark County Indians had two fourth-place finishes at the Class 2 State Track and Field Meet Friday and Saturday at Dwight T. Reed Stadium on the campus of Lincoln University.

Junior Javis Vineyard finished fourth in the 100-meter dash. He qualified for the finals with a time of 11.23 in the preliminaries and finished with a time of 11.16 in the finals.

Maplewood Richmond Heights' Fred Taylor won the state title with a time of 10.81. East Prairie's Tony Jones was second with a time of 11.07, and Montgomery County's Dominic Thomas edged Vineyard by .01 for third.

The 4 x 200 relay of Ethan Allen, Michael Brennan, Matt Morrow and Javis Vineyard also finished fourth with a time of 1:32.36. Maplewood Richmond Heights won the title with a time of 1:30.44. North County Tech was second with a time of 1:32.12, and Penney finished third with a time of 1:32.34.

Clark County qualified for the final with a time of 1:32.70 in the preliminary.

The 4 x 400 relay team finished 14th with a time of 3:49.40. Erick Arnold was 15th in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 16.72, and Vineyard was disqualified for a false start in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash.
