Haas, Morris competes at state track meet

CHARLESTON, Ill. - West Hancock's Chris Haas and Dylan Morris competed in the Illinois Class A State Track and Field Meet Friday at O'Brien Stadium on the campus of Eastern Illinois University.

Haas ran in the 300-meter hurdles. He finished with a time of 40.76, 12th among the 36 competing in the event. Unfortunately, only the top nine qualified for Saturday's final.

Hampshire senior Quinn Walker won the state title with a time of 38.12 Saturday. Pana junior Eric Miller was second with a time of 38.91, and Carlinville senior Chris Walker finished third with a time of 39.20.

Morris competed in the high jump. He was unable to clear the starting height of 6-1.

The top 15 advanced to Saturday's final. All 15 finished with a jump of 6-3.

Spring Valley Hall senior Matt Hassler won the state title with a jump of 6-7. Frankfort senior Isiah Simelton and Indian Creek senior Randall MaKarrall tied for second with a jump of 6-6.
