$5,000 reward offered for information related to church fire in Keokuk

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office announced they are jointly offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the May 18 fire in the Education Building of the First Baptist Church at 710 Blondeau St. in Keokuk.
The follow up investigation and evidence subsequently gathered at the scene revealed the fire was intentionally set by one or more persons. The structure sustained approximately $100,000 in heavy smoke, water and fire damage.
The public is asked to call the Iowa State Fire Marshal's Hotline at 1-800-532-1459, ATF's toll free hotline, 1-888-ATF-FIRE (888-283-3473) or Keokuk Police Department at 524-3131 with any information that may help identify those responsible for the arson fire. Both hotlines are answered 24 hours a day and all calls remain confidential.
ATF is the federal agency with jurisdiction for investigating church fires and explosives.
