DONNELLSON - The IMCA Speedway Motors weekly racing program takes flight with the largest weekly winning prize of the season thus far for all four classes in attendance at the first annual Pepsi Liberty Cup at the Lee County Speedway on Thursday.
The Liberty Cup will feature a $1,500 to win A-Main for the Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds. The IMCA National Points event also will qualify the race winner for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational during Boone Speedway's IMCA Supernationals. Race winners in any IMCA National event paying $1,000 or more since last June are eligible to be voted into the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational via the IMCA website.
The Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars will battle for $1,000 to win, the Donnellson Tire Hobby Stocks will race for $600 to win, and the Shottenkirk Parts Express Wild Things will vie for $300 to win.
Gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps begin at 7 p.m., with racing to follow at 7:30 p.m.
In addition to the $600 top prize for the Hobby Stocks, a $440 bounty still remains unclaimed on five-time race winner Dean Kratzer. If a driver can beat Kratzer and Kratzer finishes the feature event, the winner's check becomes $1,040.
Grandstand general admission is $12 for adults and seniors, $7 for students 11-17, and free for kids 10 and under. Pit passes are $25.
A huge fireworks display also is planned to celebrate the Independence Day holiday.
