Beale joins Krichel veterinary staff
By the Daily Gate City
Dr. Anthony Beale feels right at home in Keokuk.
The newest veterinarian at Krichel Animal Hospital in Keokuk grew up in towns of 600 and 5,000 people.
“I chose this place because I've known Dr. (Thomas) Hutchcroft for eight years and enjoy the small town atmosphere, the other doctors and the staff,” he said.
A graduate of the University of Missouri Veterinary School in Columbia, Mo., in May, Beale served a preceptorship with Krichel Animal Hospital from late January to late February in 2007. He has known Hutchcroft since 2000 when the latter worked at a Kansas City animal hospital.
“One thing that drew me in was talking to the staff (at Krichel Animal Hospital) and finding out how long some of the members had been here,” Beale said. “That's a good indication of how good a place is.”
He received a bachelor's degree with a major in biology from William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo.
Single, Beale likes to bowl, play pool, go to movies and watch baseball and football in his spare time. He plans on becoming active in the new young professionals group, Keokuk Y-Net.
He has two cats, Nicademius, a three-year-old orange tabby, and Brisby, a 1 1/2-year-old Siamese mix. He also has a 13-year-old dog who is staying with his grandmother in Kansas City.
Beale fills the position formerly held by Dr. Donald Miller, who retired after 44 years as a veterinarian.
