Investigation into cause of Donnellson house fire continues
For the Daily Gate City
DONNELLSON - The cause of a house fire in Donnellson is still unknown a week after the blaze.
The Pat and Patricia Rooney home, 1572 255th St., about 3 1/2 miles outside of Donnellson was a total lost.
The Donnellson Fire Department arrived at the scene at about 6:02 p.m. July 9 to find the home engulfed in flame.
Assistant Donnellson Fire Chief Bill Young said the home was a total loss. The family lost several pets in the fire as well.
Donnellson called in neighboring fire departments, including Fort Madison, for mutual aid. The department was on the scene for about 4 1/2 hours, Young said.
While the cause of the fire isn't believed to be intentional, Young said because of the damage the State Fire Marshall is taking a little more time to determine the cause.
Young wasn't aware of any funds or donation drop off sights set up to help the family.
