Dani Adams has Hollywood ties

Published: Wednesday, July 30, 2008 10:26 AM CDT
Dani Adams was raised in North Hollywood, Calif., and moved to the Tri-State Area with her parents in 1981.

Adams moved back to California in 1986, but when her graphics design studio was burned during the riots of 1992, she moved to Niota, Ill., then to Fort Madison and finally to the Keokuk area.

She takes in abused and abandoned birds and has accumulated several other animals along the way.

While in California, she attended the Warner Brothers School of Animation in Valencia and did her internship at Disney Studios and Capitol Records.

What kind of music do you enjoy? 1970s, 1980s and today's rhythm and blues.

What are your hobbies? Horses and anything dealing with art and animation and fishing.

Do you have a favorite pet (present or past)? A horse named Flash.

Where would you go if you won a trip anywhere in the world and why? Australia because of all of the wildlife.

What has been life's most rewarding experience for you? While working in LA, it was the stars I met and the studios I was able to work at - the behind the scenes look at life that most people never get the chance to see.

What is your least favorite food? Spinach. (I hate it.)

What is your favorite food? Seafood, especially great white shark.

What makes a perfect summer day and how would you spend it if you could, anyway you wanted? A cozy chair, a cool breeze sitting by the ocean back by the good ol' Pacific Ocean.

Have a favorite sport to do or watch? Football - Green Bay all the way.

Favorite childhood, teen and adult book? Favorite childhood book was “The Velveteen Rabbit.”

Most memorable moment? Being accepted into the Warner Brothers School of Animation in California having nothing but a sketch book.

Most famous person(s) you've met? I have been friends with Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans) of Days of Our Lives, for 22 years. Linda Hamilton is a wonderful person and Dustin Hoffman, the clown of all clowns. I spent many years on the studio lots as set designer, runner or just hanging out. So actually I should say the only real one I haven't met is Patty Duke, my all time favorite.

What do you like most about yourself? My ability to make others laugh.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? An art therapist working with abused children.

What do you collect? Anything and everything Packers, dolphins and critters.

Where would you live if you had a choice? Right where I am. As a kid I always dreamed of having a yard full of horses and a house full of critters.

What is your favorite TV show and actor/actress? My favorite TV show is “Law and Order-SUV.” My all time favorite actresses are Patty Duke and Lindsay Wagner. My current is Mariska Hargitay.

If you could have dinner with any three people (living or dead) who would they be? Patty Duke and my father (deceased).

What was your favorite subject in school? Art.

What was your first job? George's Pizza in Keokuk.

What was/is your favorite style/piece of clothing? Sweat shirt and jeans.

Best word(s) of advice you've received? Never give up, never give in.

Favorite movie of all time? “Footloose.”

What is your favorite ethnic food? Chinese.

Person you admire most and why? My very best friend for the ability to help others in difficult situations - when their own life was in turmoil - the ability to love and trust to the fullest even after being burned or hurt constantly - just their all around belief that there is good in everyone. From this person I am learning about how I can be a better person through even the worst of times.

If you had a motto, what would it be? Live, love and be happy.

What is your most memorable and/or embarrassing food experience? A food fight with the late actress Shelley Winters at the Spaghetti Factory in LA. She started it. Or, being thrown out of the Brown Derby 'cause we weren't in the proper attire. I guess they didn't like sweatshirts and jeans.

What is your favorite recipe? Wine chicken.

Serve over brown rice.
