Listen Up concert set Saturday in Kahoka
For the Daily Gate City
KAHOKA, Mo. - Listen Up Music Fest, a music concert, is Saturday in O-Mak-O-Hak Park, Kahoka, Mo.
Now in its 10th year, the organizers of Listen Up are bringing one of the strongest lineups ever to Kahoka.
The music starts at 7 p.m.
Starting things off is native son Jason Richmond, who will emcee the show, as well as taking the stage with his new collaboration, Hawg Legg's Musical Elixir.
Also performing will be the Americana stylings of New Tribes.
Fresh off his nationwide tour, Ryan Christian, better known as Cheeks McGee of the Quincy, Ill., music scene, will again bring his barefoot acoustic jams to the Listen Up stage.
This year's “indie-cred” will be provided by the duo Straight Talk Express. Crowd favorite Aaron Watson will be back, as well as Listen Up's newest hit band, Seven Deadly Synths.
Rounding out the show is Dave, Robert, Bucket and Huff, also known as Effect, and an All-Star Jam featuring members from every band on the Neil Young classic, Rockin' in the Free World.
Big Ed's Smoke Shack of Tipton, Mo., will be on hand, selling smoked barbecue sandwiches.
Professional sound will be provided by Steve Wilhelm.
The concert is free.
Bands will perform under the Omakohak shelterhouse, so there will be a show, rain or shine.
