Execution of search warrant leads to sex-related charges
By Cindy Iutzi/Gate City Staff Writer
A search of a Keokuk home in January resulted in the arrest of a Keokuk man on several sex-related charges.
Bruce A. Reddick, 52, Keokuk, was arrested at 11:46 a.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of Morgan on a warrant for four counts of invasion of privacy and three counts of exploitation of a child.
The exploitation of a child charge refers to Reddick allegedly being in possession of child pornography.
The arrests were based on a Jan. 18 search warrant executed by the Keokuk Criminal Investigative Division and police officers, which turned up multiple computer hard drives, video cassettes and cameras, said Det. Andy Whitaker.
“It was all stuff he had downloaded from the Internet,” Whitaker said.
The invasion of privacy charge concerned video recordings of people without their knowledge.
Whitaker declined to say where and of whom the videos were made.
The hard drives and videos were sent to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Cedar Rapids, part of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
From there the material downloaded from the Internet was forwarded to the National Center for Missing or Exploited Children.
“They are able to verify that it is a child in the image, not a computer generated image,” Whitaker said.
Reddick was taken to court and is being held at the Lee County Jail on $34,000 cash only bail pending his next court appearance.

" I guess those people who didn't think, a couple of months back when the paper did a story on it, that the official statistics on this kind of thing could possibly be accurate...WERE WRONG! I bet this isn't the only internet pedophile in town, either. He just happened to get caught. Wake up, people, and pay attention to who's paying attention to your kids! "

I'm more concerned about drunk drivers around town, We know there are LOTS of them and they have an established potential for causing LOTS of harm. The real danger to kids in terms of crime seems to be from step-fathers. Did you know that kids who live with step-fathers are at an greatly increased risk of physical and sexual abuse compared to children who live only with mom or their biological dad or with both?
Its easy to fear the new(if the internet can be considered new) while ignoring larger more familiar dangers. Sure, keep an eye on the places your kids surf on the net. Get one of those free cyber filters and password protect it. I recently saw my nephews disable the filter on their home pc with a quick code available on-line (I ratted them out). As for the "alledged" perv mentioned above I hope they throw the book at him. But let's keep an close eye on probable threats to our children and just be vigiliant on less-likely possible threats such as this. "
