City prepares for Hamilton River Drive Sept. 26-28

The Hamilton School District has welcomed five new teachers with the start of a new school year.

Candy Berquam of Hamilton is teaching the pre-kindergarten half-day program.

She graduated from Hamilton High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and elementary education from Iowa Wesleyan University, Mount Pleasant.

She has six years of teaching experience, including last year at Warsaw.

Brooke Dadant of Hamilton teaches fourth to sixth grade resource classes.


She graduated from Hamilton High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Western Illinois University, Macomb.

She taught second grade last year at Sts. Peter and Paul School, Nauvoo, Ill.

Michael McDermott of Hamilton is the new band instructor.

He graduated from United Township High School at East Moline, Ill. He earned his bachelor's degree in music education at Illinois State University.

He has teaching experience at Eagle Ridge School in Silvus and East Peoria, Ill., and most recently taught for two years at Davenport North High School.

Stephanie Noble of Carthage, Ill., teaches physical education and world history.

She graduated from Moline High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in physical education with social studies endorsement at Illinois State University. She is working toward a master's degree at WIU, Macomb.

She has five years of teaching experience including one year in Mexico and four years in the Quad Cities area.

Angela Huckstep of Mendon, Ill., teaches math. She is a graduate of Quincy Senior High School, Quincy, Ill. She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education with a math endorsement at Quincy University.

She has been a kindergarten aide and spent several years as a substitute teacher.
