HAMILTON, Ill. - There may be some confusion for visitors to Hamilton High School today as to just what decade it is. In celebration of homecoming week, students are “dressing up” each day.

Today is Decade Day. Students were assigned a decade and encouraged to dress in that style. Freshmen dressed in poodle skirts, bobby socks and rolled up dungarees, depicting the 1950s. Sophomores could be “far out” dressing in the style of the psychedelic 1960s. Juniors brought on the bell bottoms of the 1970s, and seniors had big hair, big shoulder pads, leg warmers, stone-washed jeans along with punk and ‘Miami Vice' styles to channel the 1980s.

Wednesday is Wacky Tacky Day; anything goes. Thursday is Class Color Day; freshmen wear green, sophomores wear yellow, juniors wear blue and seniors wear pink.

Friday is Black Out Day; everyone is encouraged to dress in black.

Students are busy this week decorating the school hallways, building floats for Friday's homecoming parade and holding a few contests.

Hamilton is hosting a Titan pep rally in the high school gym at 8 p.m. Thursday, followed by a 9 p.m. bonfire on the Hamilton High School practice field.

The parade begins at 5 p.m. Friday from Gordon's Grove City Park.

The parade will go down Broadway from Seventh to 12th Street, turn north on 12th to Laurel Street and into the Hamilton High School parking lot.

The football game against Illini West begins at 7 p.m. Friday at the Hamilton football field.

Hamilton's homecoming dance is from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday in the Hamilton Junior High School gym. Crowning of the homecoming king and queen is at 10 p.m. Saturday at the dance.

Seniors serving on the 2008 Titan Hamilton High School homecoming court are Brittany Scheu, daughter of Joe and Buffy Scheu; Paige Sullivan, daughter of Dan Sullivan and Pam Sullivan; Ashtyn St. Clair, daughter of Joe and Angie St. Clair; Lindsey Buckert, daughter of Tommy and Laura Buckert; Emma VanArsdale, daughter of Dan and Mary VanArsdale; Jeff Dowdall, son of Rusty and Barbie Dowdall; Chris Pierce, son of James and Rose Pierce; Trevor Farris, son of Tim and Dawn Farris; Nick Whitaker, son of Kenny Whitaker and Nancy Whitaker Kropp; and Dylan Morris, son of Mike and Joni Morris.
