Schlicher qualifies for Class 1A State Tournament
CAMP POINT, Ill. - West Hancock sophomore Mac Schlicher qualified for the Class 1A State Golf Tournament Monday.
Schlicher was one of eight individual golfers who were not members of an advancing team to qualify. He shot a 79 at Arrow Head Heights Golf Course.
West Hancock's Jordan Dewald also competed at the sectional golf tournament and just missed qualifying for state. He finished with a round of 82.
The Class 1A State Tournament is Friday and Saturday at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington, Ill.
Shane Convery took individual medalist honors. The Raymond Lincolnwood junior won the sectional title in a playoff over teammate Kyle Snyder amd Rushville-Industry's Tyler Barr.
Raymond Lincolnwood won the sectional title with a 313. Aaron Jenkins shot an 80 for the Lancers. Sam Elmore had an 81. Ty Irwin carded an 86, and Kane Webb finished with a 90.
Pleasant Plains also advanced with a second place finish. The Cardinals shot a 332, five shots better than Central.
David Hermes led Pleasant Plains with a 79. Austin Havens had an 80. Matt Tomaw fired an 85. Chris Barnes shot an 88. Quenten Hooker had an 89, and Alex Monier finished with a 90.
Advancing as individuals were: Barr, Rushville-Industry, 76; Ryan Settles, Winchester, 78; Brandon Stieren, Litchfield, 78; Caleb Cook, Central, 79; Andrew Jorn, Hillsboro, 79; Schlicher, West Hancock, 79; Connor Fortney, Petersburgh, 79; and Nate Davis, Winchester, 80.
