West Hancock girls end golf season at Aledo Sectional
ALEDO, Ill. - The West Hancock Titans finished ninth at the Aledo Girls Golf Sectional at Hawthorn Ridge Monday.
Williamsville won the sectional title with a 373, and Petersburg PORTA was second with a 379. Both teams advance to the Class 1A State Tournament at the Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Carbondale, Ill.
West Hancock finished with a 445. The Titans improved their team score by 53 shots from their total at the Camp Point Central Regional on Wednesday.
PORTA's Brooks White won individual honors with an 80, six shots better than anyone else.
Samantha Pelc shot an 87 to lead Williamsville. Katelyn Lazar added an 89. Lexie Emerson fired a 92. Hannah Miller carded a 105. Chelsea Nichols shot a 109, Hannah Zara had a 111.
Brittany Kidd added a 93 for PORTA. Brittany Stout had a 97. Aubrey Stevens shot a 109. Nicole Garfat fired a 115, and Olivia Minder finished with a 137.
Individuals who were not members of an advancing team to qualify for state were: Chelsea Hadsall, Macomb, 86; Stephanie Gauldin, Central, 87; Katie Frey, Winchester, 87; Abby Ball, Knxoville, 90; Alexis Slater, 93; Southeastern; Julia Browning, Athens, 94; Beth Fitzsimmons, Rochester, 96; Linsey Lundeen, Aledo, 97; Alfa Torres, Beardstown, 97; Kelsey Knight, Brown County, 97; and Halie Brinkman, Central, 97.
West Hancock's Emma VanArsdale missed qualifying for state by one shot. The senior carded a 98.
Andrea Mast added a 103 for the Titans. Emily Deters fired a 118, and Lauren Dorethy finished with a 126. Danie Buckert and McKenzie LeRoy also competed in the sectional for West Hancock.
