Hocker finishes 22nd at Class 2A state meet
FORT DODGE - Central Lee sophomore Katie Hocker finished 22nd among 125 runners in the girls Class 2A State Cross Country Meet Saturday.
Hocker finished with a time of 15:36, which was 12 seconds faster than a year ago at the same course. She finished one second behind district champion Sofia Chumaruk of Mid-Prairie.
“I really feel like we lost an entire week of practice from around the 16th to the 22nd of October due to Katie suffering from the flu,” said Central Lee Head Coach Terry Soli. “Not that I need to make any excuses, but given those circumstances, Katie did bounce back to have a pretty good day. It just wasn't the outcome she personally had hoped for.”
Casey Morgan, a junior from Goose Lake Northeast won the state title with a time of 14:29. Tipton senior Missy Miller was second in 15:01. Iowa Falls-Alden senior Katelyn Price was third with a time of 15:03, one second better than Sumner-Fredericksburg sophomore Jodi Miller.
LaPorte City Union won the team title with 45 points. Hudson was second with 144 points, and Wilton finished third with 152 points.
