Indians to host Blair Oaks Saturday
KAHOKA, Mo. - The Clark County Indians will host Blair Oaks in the Missouri Class 2 quarterfinal at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Kahoka, Mo.
Blair Oaks, ranked fifth in Class 2, advanced with a 13-7 win over fourth-ranked Centralia Monday. The Falcons, 11-1, ended Centralia's season in the playoffs for the third consecutive year.
Blair Oaks has qualified for the playoffs eight straight years. In 2006, Blair Oaks defeated Clark County in the quarterfinals and went on to win a state title.
“Blair Oaks is a great team with a championship pedigree,” said Clark County Head Coach Matt Smith. “We saw them two years ago, and they came up here and licked us. They were by far the best team in the state that year.
“Some things have changed since then. At that point we had six or seven sophomores on the field and that isn't the case anymore. We're a more mature team, and a more physical team than we were that year.”
Gates will open at 11 a.m. Admission is $6 for all spectators kinergarten through adult. Local and MSTA passes cannot be accepted.
Handicapped parking is available with a valid permit.
The other quarterfinal games feature Caruthersville (5-7) at Maplewood (12-0), Fair Grove (12-0) at Warsaw (8-4) and Carrollton (11-1) and Maryville (11-1).
The winner of the Blair Oaks-Clark County game will face the winner of the Caruthersville-Maplewood game in the state semifinals.
