By Cindy Iutzi/Gate City Staff Writer
The Hamilton City Council will waive fees for the employee Christmas dinner Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Hamilton Senior and Community Center, Elm Street.
The center will open at 5:30 p.m. and the meal will begin at 6 p.m. Ducks Red Fox is catering the meal. No alcohol will be served.
The city will present plaques to employees who have eight years or more service.
Employees unable to attend the party will get a Christmas turkey.
In other matters, council members Monday:
Set the Streets Committee meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday; Finance Committee meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15; and the Health and Safety Committee at 6 p.m. Dec. 15.
Heard that people are littering excessively in town again, especially on the Main Street and Broadway hills and Montebello Access.
Approved purchase and installation of a variable frequency drive for $8,985 for the water plant pumps. The new drive will keep the pumps from surging on the off cycle and save wear and tear on the pumps.
Authorized a $4,920 payment to McClure Engineering for Ninth Street sewer design.
Reminded the public of the snow ordinance which provides for no parking from 2 to 6 a.m. on Broadway from Ninth to 12th streets if one or more inches of snow falls. Fines for violations are from $25 to $100 and vehicles could be towed at the owner's expense.
Awarded the snow removal contract to GT's Lawn Service for $20 to $40 per hour depending on the amount of snow, including ice melt and $15 to $20 for the senior center including ice melt.
