Around the Tri-State Area this weekend

Today, Friday and Saturday

The Old Fort Players present “Yes, Virginia There Is a Santa Claus” at the Old Fort Playhouse, 725 Avenue G, Fort Madison.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday.

Admission is $10 at the door and $8 in advance at Garner Oil, County Market, Stitchin Addiction and Dodd Printing in Fort Madison and Pedal Pushers in Burlington.

Saturday

A Wreath Across America ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk.


A total of 350,000 wreaths are expected to be placed on the headstones of veterans at more than 350 locations Saturday.

American Legion Post 41, VFW Post 3508 and Sons of the American Legion Squadron are taking part in the local ceremony.

More than 40 pieces of artwork will be displayed at the Fort Madison Area Arts Association's temporary home at 825 Avenue G, Fort Madison, for the annual FMAAA All Member Show at 2 p.m.

The artwork will be on display through Christmas.

Prizes will be awarded to the best pieces. The artwork also will be for sale.

A Messiah - Sing! sing-along with the Southeast Iowa Symphony is at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant.

Sunday

The Hamilton High School Music Department presents its annual winter concert at 2 p.m. in Safford Auditorium. Destine and Perfect Gentlemen also will perform.

After the concert, there will be a brief dessert social in the cafeteria.

The junior high and high school bands will play at 3 p.m. in the high school gym.

The Music Boosters will hold a Christmas raffle drawing at the end of the concerts.

The Southeastern Community College Community Chorus presents a Christmas program at 7 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Keokuk.

Light refreshments will be served afterward.

Iowa Wesleyan College invites alumni, friends, community members and students to a college-community brunch in the Student Union Social Hall from 11:30 a.m. to1 p.m.

Tickets are available at the door for $9.25 adults, $7.25 children 6-12. Children under 5 eat for free. Tickets are also available in advance for a $1 discount at the Student Life office in the Student Union.
