Miracle Ailes was in the spotlight at the Keokuk School Board meeting Monday for her amazing performance in track and field this school year.

The Keokuk School Board met at 6 p.m. Monday, May 20, at the Keokuk Middle School media center. There were over 20 items listed as new business on the agenda plus reports and other items, but board President Kim Wyatt kept things moving along efficiently.

Several groups and individuals were recognized. Middle and high school science fair award recipients and the State History Day qualifiers were lauded for their accomplishments, and three students who took part in the Battle of the Books were on hand. Miracle Ailes was highlighted for her amazing season in track and field, having beaten up the competition in several events in Des Moines. The KMS girls bowling team – Jaelyn Johnson, Rachel Moore, Olivia Rule and Sophia Rule – took first in state and were congratulated by the board.

The Chief Spotlight focused on the middle school, and Principal Layne Billings spoke on the state of the school and the various programs. Student Council members Kiera Campbell, Anna Hinton, Jaelyn Johnson and Wren Richardson were on hand to talk about the council and their goals for the end of the year:
