FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Tony Orion Prewitt, 59, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024, in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

He was born March 27, 1964, in Kirksville, Missouri, a son of Karen (Treasure) Prewitt and the late Roger Prewitt.

He was a graduate of Keokuk High School, class of 1982.

He went on to join the U.S. Air Force where he served for 8 years as a heavy equipment operator during Operation Desert Storm, in Saudi Arabia. He was also stationed at England Air Force Base, Louisiana, and Bitburg Air Base, Germany.

Tony was a certified surgical technologist at Keokuk Area Hospital and most currently the VA Hospital in Fayetteville.

He enjoyed shark tooth hunting, relaxing on the beach with a cocktail, traveling the world, collecting baseball cards and whiskey, and cooking for his family. He was famous for his beef jerky, chicken wings, and bread pudding. More than anything else, he loved spending time with his kids and grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor and was known for making jokes with his coworkers, friends, and family.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Sheryl (Londrie) Prewitt; seven children: Amanda Francois (Benson), Tabetha Ratliff (Jacob), Elizabeth Keener (Michael), Gabrielle Klus-White (Derek), Kara Parker (William), Joseph White, and Tyler Prewitt (Gracie); seven grandchildren: Alex, Amelia and Ezra Francois, Lincoln Ratliff, Vivian and Jackson Keener, and Aubrey Klus; two siblings, Todd Prewitt (Lisa) and Tessa Prewitt; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life graveside service, with military honors, will be at noon Monday, March 25 at the East Center Cemetery in Kirksville, Missouri, under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville.
