House fire

Keokuk firefighters finish knocking down a house fire at 2043 Logan Drive on Sunday afternoon.

A house fire was called in at 12:41 p.m. Sunday at 2043 Logan Drive, Keokuk.

The Keokuk Fire Department had the blaze mostly extinguished within an hour. According to Fire Chief Gabe Rose, the family was not home at the time. Two cats were rescued and were given oxygen by Lee County EMS, and a third cat is missing.

Rose said the cause of the fire is under investigation. The house, owned by Corey and Nancy Grisham, is insured through American National.

UPDATE (6:07 p.m.): The Grishams' third cat has been found alive, according to a neighbor.
