ELDON, Mo. – Leo Richard Martin Sr., 85, of Eldon, Mo., passed away Saturday afternoon, Sept. 29, 2012, at his residence near Eldon.
He was born on April 24, 1927, in Keokuk, the son of Roy Martin and Maude (Mardis) Martin Bryant.
He was married to Mary Alyce (Cone) Martin on March 6, 1969, in Versailles, Mo. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include: sons, Leo “Dick” Martin Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Eldon and James “Jim” Martin and his wife, Sandy, of Barnett, Mo.; daughters, Joyce Hutcherson and her husband, Ron of Denver, N.C., and Rose Miller and her husband, Ed, of Moorseville, N.C.; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl Bryant of Holbrook, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ray Martin and Jimmy Bryant.
Leo was a 1945 graduate of Keokuk High School.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Versailles, Mo.
Leo was owner/operator of Martin Heating and Cooling in Eldon.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton, with the Rev. Chad Courter officiating and full military honors presented by the Russell Straight American Legion Post 483 of Milton.
Memorials for Leo are suggested to Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Versailles, the American Cancer Society or the American Disabled Veterans.
A reception will be held at the Russell Straight American Legion Post in Milton following the graveside service.
